Prior of the community. A native of County Laois, Fr Gerard was elected prior in May 2014, having served as vocations director for the Irish Dominicans for fourteen years before taking up appointment as prior.
A native of Cork, Fr Dermot has spent many years working in Trinidad & Tobago, and Canada, before returning to Ireland where his main work was in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). Has recently been assigned to St Mary’s, after serving as prior in Drogheda.
Fr Stephen was here in St. Mary previously, as prior, and has now been assigned back as master of novices.
A native of Cork, Fr Denis was a member of the English Dominican province before transferring to the Irish province. He has previously ministered in parishes and university chaplaincies.
Having exercised many ministries in the Irish Dominican province including serving in our overseas missions (seven years in Argentina), Fr Finian has been a member of this community since 2004.
Fr Louis was assigned to our community in September 2015. A friar with vast experience, he has ministered in India, was a chaplain to a third level institute in Dublin, held the office of prior in a number of communities of the Irish Dominican province and a popular retreat master. His expertise in meditation in the Christian tradition is of great interest to him and has written extensively on this topic.
The oldest member of our community, Fr Robert is well known in Cork city, having been chaplain to St. Patrick’s Hospital (Marymount) until its re-location.
FR BRENDAN CLIFFORD OP
Fr Brendan was assigned to Saint Mary’s during the summer of 2016 having been resident in our Limerick community for some years. Fr Brendan is well known in Ireland and abroad for his pioneering of the Lectio Divina method of understanding the sacred scriptures
FR DAMIAN POLLY OP
Fr Damian was ordained to the priesthood in July 2016 and Saint Mary’s is his first assignation as a priest. Among many other pastoral duties, he is director of the Dominican Centre in Cork.
Fr Ronan was a novice in Saint Mary’s in 2009-10 and was ordained priest in July 2016. We welcome him to Saint Mary’s. Among his priestly and pastoral duties, Fr Ronan is bursar of the community.
Saint Mary’s is also the home of the novitiate of the Irish Dominican province. This spiritual year, which is an introduction to the Dominican way of life is under the care of the novice master Fr Stephen Hutchinson OP
