Summer Schools with the Dominicans
This course on Philosophy will bring the student on a journey through the beginnings of philosophy and the pre-Socratics, to Socrates himself were some of his famous dialogues will be dipped into. There will be an introduction to the main themes of Platonic and Aristotelian philosophy and what impact they had, and have, on Christian philosophy; in particular, the influence Aristotle had on the Great Doctor of the Church St Thomas Aquinas OP.
Fr Maurice Colgan OP is a Dominican Friar based in Cork. After gaining his qualification in Philiosophy and Theology, in NUI and St Patrick’s College Maynooth, he was ordained a priest in 2011. He is currently the Prior of St Mary’s, Cork. He has a HDip Phil and BPhil in Philosophy.
Courses run Mon-Fri 9:30am – 4pm, (Mass each day at 11am). Social gatherings most evenings.
